Senior Kaitlyn Ritchie who hails from Bartlesville, Okla. has been having great success throughout her senior year and as of late has gone 5-0 the last five singles matches. The wins include competition against Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Kansas, Kansas State and Texas Tech. Ritchie is 5-5 in Big 12 play and hopes to win six singles matches in a row after challenging Colorado this upcoming Sat., April 23.
Recently, Ritchie has overcome No. 105 Elizabeth Ullathorne ((5-7, 6-4, 1-0(4)) of Texas Tech on April 17. She also finished off her opponents Alice Radu of Oklahoma 6-3, 6-4 and Monica Pezzotti of Kansas 6-0, 6-3 quickly in just two sets.
To add to her season accomplishments, Ritchie and senior doubles partner Mallory Weber are currently ranked No. 52 in the country after grabbing some impressive wins. The duo faced No. 21 Amy Barton and Marina Bohrer of Michigan State, in March, dominating 8-4. Impressively, they also took down No. 23 Amanda Craddock and Cierra Gaytan-Leach of Texas 9-8 (4). The pairing is 12-7 since spring play began and 3-3 Big 12.
As a junior, Ritchie received 2010 Academic All-Big 12 Second Team and she earned her 49th career win on April 23rd, 2010 besting No. 23 ranked Aeriel Ellis of Texas. With 49 tabbed victories, Ritchie moved into the No. 13 position on Missouri's career singles victories list on April 28, 2010.
Join Ritchie and fellow seniors Mallory Weber and Maureen Modesto on Sat., April 23 for Senior Day as they face Big 12 opponent Colorado. Time of play will be determined morning of the match: 10 a.m. if indoors at Green Tennis Center or 2 p.m. if outdoors at Bethel.
