Rise Finishes Second at Mt. SAC

    AZUSA, Calif. - Mizzou track and field senior Lars Rise (Trondheim, Norway) finished second in the decathlon at the Mt. SAC Combined Events on Thursday (April 14). He scored 7,770 points which is just six off of his personal-best point total in the decathlon as he now ranks fourth nationally in the event. The score also likely qualifies him for the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Grey Horn of Florida won the event with 7,791 points, just 21 points ahead of Rise.

    After totaling 4,047 points on day one and ranking fourth, Rise put together a big day two, starting with a 15.06 in the 110m hurdles to score 864 points. The time was just four hundredths of a second off of his personal-best in the event. He then threw 43.06m (146-5) in the discus for 727 points and cleared 4.50m (14-9) in the pole vault for 760 points. He threw 57.83m (189-9) in the javelin and closed his day with a time of 4:38.70, adding 705 and 689 points to his overall score, respectively.
