COLUMBIA, Mo. - After a successful weekend at the Tom Botts Invitational, the Mizzou track and field team will resume its outdoor season this weekend at the Indiana Invitational in Bloomington, Ind. The meet will mark the Tigers' first road trip after two straight home meets. The Tigers will compete against teams from Indiana, Indiana State and Michigan State at quad-meet.
Competition begins at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday with the women' hammer throw. The javelin, pole vault and triple jump will be the other field events contested on Friday while the track events will begin at 7 p.m. on Friday. The meet will resume at 11 a.m. on Sunday with the start of the remaining field events. The track events will begin at noon on Sunday.
Mizzou is coming off of a weekend sweep of the Tom Botts Invitational as both the men's and women's teams took home team titles at the meet. Freshman sprinter Tre' Chambers was named the meet's Most Outstanding Athlete after winning the 100m, 200m and running as the anchor of the meet-record setting 4x100m relay team. He has put together an outstanding season so far as he ranks in the Big 12's top 10 in both the 100m and 200m dash and sits just outside the top 25 nationally in the 100m.
Senior pole vaulter Brian Hancock also looks primed for a big weekend as he is coming off of a meet-record performance in the pole vault. The four-time All-American set the Tom Botts meet record in the pole vault last weekend after clearing 5.36m (17-7), ranking him fifth nationally.
Look for names like Chris Holly, Brooks Mosier, Megan Collins, Laura Roxberg and Layne Moore to also have big weekends at Indiana as well after a very successful Tom Botts Invitational.
