Adcock Wins USATF Indoor Title

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Former Tiger All-American and current volunteer assistant coach Nick Adcock (Kansas City, Mo.) used a big second day to win the USATF Indoor Combined Events Heptathlon title with a point total of 5,711, just ahead of Patrick Woods, who finished with 5,700 points. The National Title is the first of Adcock's career and he wins top honors just one year removed from competing collegiately with the Tigers. Adcock scored 2,604 points on day two, moving from fourth after day one to first.

Adcock totaled 3,107 total points on day one of the competition on Saturday, highlighted by 823 points in the 60m dash with a time of 823. He jumped 6.92m (22-8 ½) in the long jump to scored 795 points and 1.97m (6-5 ½) in the high jump to add 776 points to his overall score. He also tossed 13.75m (45-1 ½) in the shot put to scored 713 points.

But it was Adcock's second day that propelled him to the overall title as he kicked the day off with an 8.15 in the 60m hurdles to score 944 points, his best point total in any event at the meet. He followed that with a pole vault of 4.70m (15-5) to scored 819 points and wrapped up his day with a time of 2:42.90 in the 1,000m run, good for 841 points as he won that event. He also won the 60m hurdles on day two.

Volunteer assistant coach Liz Roehrig also competed at the meet and finished fifth in the pentathlon 4,118 points. She ran 8.68 in the 60m hurdles for 978 points and had another great mark in the high jump, clearing 1.76m (5-9 ¼) to earn 928 points. She threw 13.22m (43-4 ½) in the shot put for 742 points and jumped 5.73m (18-9 ¾) in the long jump to add 768 points to her overall score. She closed her day by running 2:18.20 in the 800m run to score 848 points.
