Columbia, Mo. - Aiming for its fourth consecutive victory of the spring season, Missouri Men's Golf hosts the 2011 Columbia Orthopedic Group Mizzou Intercollegiate April 4-5 at The Club at Old Hawthorne in Columbia.
The event is Missouri's first at home this season and comes on the heels of three consecutive spring season wins at the Washington State Snowman Getaway (Feb. 21-22), the South Dakota State Jackrabbit Invitational (March 14-15) and the Arkansas-Little Rock First Tee Classic (March 28-29). Missouri also boasted individual winners in each of those events as freshman Emilio Cuartero won by five shots at the Washington State event, while sophomore sensation Jace Long has won back-to-back tournaments leading into next week's home contest.
Mizzou is one of 16 teams competing next week at Old Hawthorne. The Tigers are joined in the team lineup by 2010 event champion, Nebraska. In addition to the Tigers and Huskers, Arkansas-Little Rock, Ball State, Belmont, Creighton, Cincinnati, DePaul, Eastern Michigan, IUPUI, Northern Illinois, Northern Iowa, Oral Roberts, South Dakota State, Toledo and Xavier round out the field.
The 54-hole event begins at 8 a.m. on Monday morning with a shotgun start. The teams will play 36 holes the first day and conclude competition on Tuesday, April 5, with the final round at 8 a.m. The event is free to the pubic.
