Columbia, Mo. - Missouri Women's Golf gets back to action this week as the Tigers face yet another talented field at the 2011 MountainView Collegiate in Tucson, Ariz.
The 54-hole event will be held at the par-72, 6,227-yard MountainView Country Club in Tucson. The 13th annual event is hosted by the University of Colorado and last year's medalist was former Tiger great Julia Potter, who logged a 3-over-par 219.
Missouri will look to carry over its improved practice play the last two weeks with a fresh starting five. Marissa Cook will golf #1 for the Tigers. The junior has been among the team's more improved players in recent weeks and could be ready for a breakout campaign for Head Coach Stephanie Priesmeyer's young squad. Nicola Race earned the #2 spot, while another junior, Hannah Lovelock, will play at #3. Two freshmen round out the top five. Kate Gallagher, a native of Savannah, Mo., will play #4, while Taylor Gohn will play #5.
This year's field features 18 teams, including nine Big 12 programs. League teams competing include: Baylor, Colorado, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas Tech and the Tigers, while non-league teams competing are Arkansas, Minnesota, Indiana, San Jose State, Texas State, Colorado State, Oregon State, Gonzaga and Wyoming.
Competition gets rolling at 7:30 a.m. local time with 36 holes of play. The event will conclude on March 26 with 18 holes.
