Missouri Wraps Up Day Two of Big 12s

Austin, Tex.-- Missouri had another succesful night in the pool, and finished day two of the Big 12 Championships in third place behind Texas A&M and Texas with a score of 212.5.

In the first event of the night, the women's 200 free relay finals, the team of Cassie Cunningham, Lisa Nathanson, Stephanie Rovig, and Francie Szostak placed third, finishing the event in 1:30.80.

Next up was women's 3 meter, where Mizzou had a strong contingent representing the school. Loren Figueroa placed second (340.40 points) in a tight matchup with Texas' Maren Taylor (344.80). Sharon Finn finished in sixth place, totaling 305.95 points, and Christina Gailey took seventh with 297.40 points. Jordan Morcom finished in ninth place with 294.85 points.

In the women's 500 free, Stephanie Rovig represented Mizzou in the A finals, finishing in eighth place with a finals time of 4:51.26.

Missouri had a slew of participants in the 200 IM finals. Participating in the 'B' final, Francie Szostak placed 10th overall in 2:01.19, Lauren Lavigna took 12th in 2:02.02, Amanda Masters placed 13th in 2:02.03, Emy DiBenigno placed 15th in 2:02.62 and Rachel Ripley took 16th in 2:04.44. In the 'A' final, Dominique Bouchard placed sixth overall, finishing in 2:00.58.

In the 50 free, the final event of the night, Cassie Cunningham finished seventh in 22.92, Lisa Nathanson placed eighth in 23.29, and Sydney Schaefer placed 15th in 23.69.

The Tigers will begin prelims tomorrow morning again at 10:00 am.
