Missouri Kicks off Big 12 Championships Tonight

Austin, Tex.-- The Missouri men's and women's swimming and diving teams got off to a solid start in relay and 1 meter diving competition Wednesday night.

After a sendoff by Mizzou parents and fans, the Tigers traveled to the Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center, where competition began at 6:00 pm. 

In the men's 200 medley relay, the A team of Roko SimunicMark ConroyAnders Melin and Jordan Hawleyplaced second, finishing in 1:26.58. Participating in the second heat, Missouri's B squad finished second (and fourth overall) in 1:43.27.

In the 1 meter dive, Dante Jones crushed his former top score of the season, finishing in second place with 404.10 points. David Bonuchi finished in third place with 368.10 points, while Dallas Becerra finished in eighth with a 289.95. 

The men's 800 free relay A team of Scott Martin, Spenser Lauver, Ryan Sellers and Ethan Rose placed third with a time of 6:39.51.

The Tigers will resume competition tomorrow morning, as prelims begin at 10:00 am and finals resume at 6:00 pm Thursday.
