COLUMBIA, Mo. - After an exciting meet against Oklahoma last weekend, Mizzou junior gymnast Mary Burke has been recognized by the Big 12 Conference. Junior Mary Burke has been named Gymnast of the Week for the fourth time this season as announced by the Big 12 office on Tuesday (Feb. 22).
The award marks the fifth Gymnast of the Week award Burke has received from the league office throughout her career. It comes after Burke earned the fifth all-around title of her career at Oklahoma. She put up a personal record on beam, earning a 9.900 on the event. She scored a 39.275 in the all-around, marking her second-highest score of the season. Burke is currently the top all-arounder in the conference and she is ranked 10th in the nation according to GymInfo's national poll.
The Tigers stay at home for the next two weeks, first hosting Southern Utah on Friday, Feb. 25. Mizzou will hold a tri-meet on March 4 when Centenary and Temple come to town.
