Women's Golf Opens Tough Spring Slate In Florida

Feb. 19, 2011

Columbia, Mo. - Missouri's Women's Golf program opens its spring campaign with a staunch test as the Tigers travel to the Central District Invitational hosted by Michigan State University on Monday.

The Tigers will be one of 15 nationally-ranked programs competing in the 54-hole event as Head Coach Stephanie Priesmeyer's club will join Arkansas (13th), Baylor (54th), Indiana (58th), Iowa State (16th), Kent State (22nd), LSU (4th), Michigan (61st), Michigan State (18th), Minnesota(36th), Northwestern (43rd), Notre Dame - 15th), Ohio State (26th), Texas A&M (42nd) and TCU (32nd) in Florida.

The 2011 Central District Invitational will be hosted at the River Wilderness Country Club in Parrish, Fla., and the Tigers will have an opportunity to build on their national Top 100 ranking vs. a challenging field.

"This is a great event, a great golf course and of course a great field," Coach Priesmeyer said. "Our team is looking forward to the challenge. We obviously had quite a bit of snow here in the Midwest, so traveling down to Florida will be a great way for this young group to continue building."

Competing for Missouri will be Nicola Race, Hannah Lovelock, Ariana Savich, Marissa Cook and Kelly Osborne. Lovelock will play #2 for the Tigers and is returning after undergoing back surgery over Labor Day weekend.
