Mizzou Tennis Opens 2011 Campaign

Columbia, Mo. - Mizzou Tennis returns to action this weekend at the 2011 Memphis Winter Invitational in Memphis, Tenn., as Interim Head Coach Steven Stuckenschneider guides the Tigers into the heart of the competitive season.

Mizzou will compete Jan. 14-16 at the Racquet Club of Memphis, squaring off against the host Memphis Tigers as well as Brigham Young University and the University of Mississippi.

Missouri opens competition at 9 a.m. with three doubles matches against BYU. Missouri is led into doubles play by the senior tandem of Kaitlyn Ritchie and Mallory Weber, who are currently ranked 51st nationally after an outstanding fall campaign.

The Tigers then face Memphis that evening at 6 p.m. in singles competition. Each singles dual will be comprised of six total matches.

Action continues on Saturday with the Tigers facing Ole Miss in doubles play at 2 p.m. and then the BYU Cougars at 5 p.m. in singles. Competition concludes Sunday morning with three doubles contests against Memphis and six more singles matches against the Ole Miss Rebels.

Missouri will enjoy its 2011 home-opener next weekend against UMKC and Southeast Missouri State. Both matches will be hosted at the Green Tennis Center in Columbia. The UMKC contest is scheduled for 9 a.m., while the Tigers meet SEMO at 4 p.m.
