CHICAGO, Ill. - In a windy affair, Missouri and Depaul played 110 minutes of soccer, ending in a 1-1 tie. Following an own goal in the 58th minute, freshman Dominique Richardson converted on a free kick from 40 yards out to tie the game in the 80th minute. The Tigers had several late chances in regulation and in sudden-victory overtime but were unable to put anything in the back of the net. The tie brings the team's record to 0-3-1 on the year.

"Our girls fought hard today," head coach Bryan Blitz said. "Our effort, especially late, was outstanding. We fought back after the own goal and nearly pulled out a win. A bounce this way, an inch that way and we and we very easily could have gotten a win out of this."

On a set piece free kick from 35 yards out, Depaul served a ball to the near post. Goalkeeper Jessica Gwin and defender Jess Greer both converged at the six-yard box, deflecting the ball towards the goal. Senior captain Krista Kruse tried to clear the ball off the goal line but ended up pushing the ball across for a Depaul goal.

With just under ten minutes to play, freshman Dominique Richardson fired a ball off of a free kick from 40 yards out . Flying with the wind, the ball carried straight into upper left corner to pull the Tigers even.

"We were pressuring so hard and there was no way we wanted to lose or even tie today so being able to score was huge." Richardson said.

In the 77th minute, senior forward Alysha Bonnick fired a low shot from the top of the box that drilled the right post. Freshman Alyssa Diggs was there to tap in the rebound but was ruled offside.

In the first minute of overtime, senior Kari Adam hit a close-range shot that was partially cleared off the line by the Depaul defense before the keeper grabbed the ball.

Both teams struggled to combine in the final third of the field throughout most of the first half. The Tigers recorded three shots to Depaul's two. The second half, however, opened up, as Mizzou put eight goal bound. The Tigers finished the game with 16 shots while Depaul shot six. MU recorded 23 fouls to Depaul's 15.

The Tigers stay in the Windy City for a match against Northwestern on Sunday at 1 p.m. Last week, Northwestern upset No. 3-ranked UCLA. Follow all the action on Gametracker and Mizzou Soccer's social media sites.
