The 4-1 score was finalized by freshman Alyssa Diggs. Her first career goal at Mizzou was scored in the 81st minute off of an assist from fellow freshman Danielle Nottingham. Diggs tallied six shots on goal so far this season.

The Tigers took control of the field for most of the game. Missouri notched 14 shots on goal to KU's two. Mizzou also won eight corner kicks to the Jayhawk's one.

"The first conference win is always super important, no matter who we play," said head coach Bryan Blitz. "I'm proud of our team and I think getting scored on first let us see what we are made of. I'm happy with how we responded right after that. It showed that our schedule is paying off for us. Now we move on and prepare for Oklahoma State on Friday."

The Tigers are back at home next weekend, hosting No. 12 Oklahoma State and Oklahoma. Games are set for 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 1 and 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 3. Fans can follow the games on GameTracker at mutigers.com or on the team's Twitter account. Games will also be broadcast on Mizzou-All Access and KCOU FM.
