The Mizzou women's golf team moved up five spots after carding a second round 304 at the rain-shortened Chip-N Club Invitational in Lincoln, Neb. The Tigers tied for fifth place with a two-round total of 617 after their opening round 313 put them in 10th spot. The event was shortened to 36 holes after rain suspended play yesterday, early in the second round.
Three of the five Tigers competing in the event were taking part in their first tournament with the Tigers. That includes freshman Taylor Gohn, who had the best finish for Mizzou, placing in a tie for 23rd spot with a 36-hole score of 154 (76-78). Junior Kelly Osborne, also seeing her first action as a Tiger, tied for 30th place with a 155 score (78-77).
Freshman Ariana Savich turned in the best round of the day for Missouri on Tuesday with a 74. She finished among a group tied for 36th place with a 156 score. Joining Savich with a 156 total was junior Nicola Race. Junior Marissa Cook tied for 48th spot with a 158 total.
Missouri finished tied for fifth with Texas State. Arkansas State claimed the tournament with a 598 total, which included a 292 score in the second round.
North Dakota State's Amy Anderson claimed the medalist honors with an even-par total of 144.
Next up for Missouri is the annual tournament hosted by the Tigers, the Johnie Imes Invitational, which will take place at The Club at Old Hawthorne on Oct. 4-5.
