COLUMBIA, Mo.- - Sunday's series finale between Mizzou and Oklahoma State will decide the series after OSU took a 10-7 victory on Saturday at Taylor Stadium to even the series at one game a piece.
Leading 4-2 after three innings of play, Oklahoma State (20-13, 4-7 Big 12) put up a six-run top of the fourth inning to build an eight-run advantage. The score stayed that way until the Tigers scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Missouri's (19-15, 4-7) half of the seventh started with a double from freshman Eric Garcia and a single by senior Michael Liberto. Mizzou then got RBI hits from senior Aaron Senne, freshman Dane Opel and sophomore Russell LaFleur, with two runs scoring on Opel's single. The Tigers threatened to do more damage, as they had the bases loaded before a strikeout ended the inning.
Trailing by four going to the bottom of the ninth inning, Missouri scored once when LaFleur drove in his second run of the day. The Tigers would bring the tying run to the plate before OSU's Brad Propst picked up a strikeout, the 15th of the day by the Cowboy pitching staff, for the final out of the game.
Each of Mizzou's first two runs of the game scored on RBI singles from junior Brett Nicholas, who finished the day 2-for-3 to extend his hitting streak to 10 games. He has had two hits in nine of those 10 games.
Junior Zach Hardoin pitched 5.1 scoreless innings out of the bullpen on Saturday, allowing four runs and striking out two.
The final game of the weekend set will get underway at 1 p.m. on Sunday at Taylor Stadium. Junior Brad Buehler (0-0) is the scheduled starter for the Tigers, while Oklahoma State is slated to send freshman Andrew Heaney to the mound.
