
Rise, Adcock Rank 1-2 at Mt. SAC Combined Events

AZUSA, Calif. - Three members of the Mizzou track and field program completed day one at the Mt. SAC Combined Events on Wednesday (April 14) as Azusa Pacific College. Mizzou saw its two All-Americans from the indoor season - Lars Rise (Trondheim, Norway) and Nick Adcock (Kansas City, Mo.) - finish day one occupying the top two spots of the men's decathlon. Of the 52 competitors at the competition, Rise and Adcock were the only two to post at least 4,000 points after the first day.
Rise was the highlight of the day for Mizzou as he finished the first five events in first place with 4,061 points. Rise claimed the shot put decathlon title with a throw of 15.74m (51-7 ¾), earning him 835 total points, giving him 60 points of separation over the next-best competitor in the event. He also finished second in the long jump after measuring in at 7.26m (23-10) to add 876 points to his score. He also clocked in at 11.25 in the 100m dash, was paced at 50.22 in the 400m dash and cleared 1.93m (6-4) in the high jump.
Adcock finished the day in second place overall with 4,004 points. His top performance on the day came in the 400m dash as he won the event with a clocking of 48.55, which contributed 883 points to his overall score, his best in any of the five events on Wednesday. His next-best mark came in the 100m dash as he was clocked at 10.99, earning him 836 points in the overall competition.
Adcock also jumped 6.88m (22-7) in the long jump to account for 785 points and threw 14.08m (46-2 ½) in the shot put to garner 733 more points in the competition. He also tied for seventh in the high jump after clearing 1.93m (6-4).
The women were also well-represented at the meet as senior Lauren Begany (Fenton,Mo.) finished day one in 24th place in the heptathlon at the two-day meet. The highlight of her meet was her 25.35 clocking in the 100m hurdles, earning her a day's-best 796 points in the competition. She also had a strong showing in the 200m dash after clocking in at 26.38, adding 764 points to her total score.
