Big 12 Sports-- The Missouri men's and women's swimming and diving teams have swept all of the Big 12 honors this week. Swimmers Anders Melin and Dominique Bouchard and divers David Bonuchi and Christina Gailey each garnered weekly conference honors for the first time in their careers.
Men's Swimmer of the Week Anders Melin, Missouri, Sr., Karlstad, Sweden As a member of the 200 free relay team and the 200 medley relay team at the Missouri Invitational, Melin helped his team to new Invitational records and top times in school history. Melin's finish of 47.72 in the 100 butterfly not only earned him the victory, but was also good for an NCAA 'B' qualifying time as well as a new Mizzou school record.
Men's Diver of the Week David Bonuchi, Missouri, Fr., Columbia, Mo. At the Mizzou Invitational, David Bonuchi claimed first place in both platform diving and 3-meter diving. His score of 391.55 in the 3-meter was good for a new Invitational record time. His platform score of 445.35 set a Missouri Invitational record and a school record.
Women's Swimmer of the Week Dominique Bouchard, Missouri, So., North Bay, Ontario, Canada In the 100 backstroke, Bouchard's time of 53.36 earned her a first place finish as well as the best time in Missouri history. She then went on to set an all-time Tiger record in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:52.35. Bouchard's 200 backstroke time also set a new Mizzou Invitational record, a new Big 12 Conference record and earned an NCAA 'A' qualifying time.
Women's Diver of the Week Christina Gailey, Missouri, Sr., Lexington, Ky. Gailey competed on the platform at the Mizzou Invitational. Her first place finish set both a new Mizzou Invitational record and a new school record. She finished the event with 293.50 points.
