Mizzou Basketball Post-Game Notes
- Missouri met Presbyterian today for the first time in series history. The Tigers are coming off a thrilling 85-82 overtime victory against Vanderbilt on Wednesday. The non-conference victory against the Blue Hose extended their home winning streak against non-con opponents to 52 games, a school record dating back to the 2005-06 campaign. The Tigers' streak is second in the Big 12, behind only Texas A&M (57 games).
- Justin Safford scored a season high 14 points in the win. His previous best this year came in the win against La Salle when he had 11. Safford hit 6-of-9 shots and a trey for the second consecutive night.
- After a tight start to the game, the Tigers quickly turned a 7-7 tie into a 21-7 lead with a 14-point scoring streak, fueled by a monster dunk by Justin Safford and a Marcus Denmon trey.
- Matt Pressey's trey with 13:32 to go in the second half gave Mizzou 10 for the game, tying their season-high for three-pointers set November 23rd against Wyoming. The Tigers finished with 10, and their 41.7% three-point shooting marks the second time this season Mizzou has shot over 40% from behind the arc. They previously shot 63.6% against Arkansas Pine-Bluff.
-Phil Pressey had a solid day orchestrating the Mizzou offense, as his pass to Laurence Bowers for a crowd-pleasing dunk was his 9th of the game, topping his previous career high of eight assists against North Florida. He dished out a career-best nine assists on the day, also chipping in five points and three rebounds. Perhaps the most impressive stat: his nine assists came with zero turnovers.
-With his block of Jay Reynolds' attempted layup with 4:16 left the game, Laurence Bowers moved out of a tie with former Tiger Leo Lyons to stand alone at 8th all-time in blocked shots at Missouri. His two blocks in the game give him 78 for his career, behind Chris Heller with 89.
-Marcus Denmon continued to be a driving force for the Tigers, picking up where he left off after his game-winning steal and basket against Vanderbilt. He finished with 12 points on 4-of-8 shooting with two treys, three rebounds, four assists and a block.
- Despite his scoring exploits Denmon had had four dimes in each of his last two games.
-Missouri as a team finished with 23 assists, setting a season high. The previous high was 20 set against North Florida and Wyoming.
-Presbyterian's 55 points are the fewest Missouri's stingy defense has allowed this season. The Tigers previously held North Florida to 58.
- Missouri went to the foul line a season low eight times. Missouri hit six of their eight tries
