Mizzou's Statewide Outreach program continued on Monday as Athletics Director Mike Alden, former MU football star Brad Ekwerekwu, former Tiger volleyball All-American Lindsey Hunter and Director of Media Relations Josh Murray visited Northeast Missouri.
The MU staffers began their day at Macon High School, where they spoke to student-athletes at MHS. While in Macon, they also visited staff, council members and commissioners of the Macon County Extension Office.
Before leaving Macon, the foursome ran into Missouri Governor Jay Nixon, who was making an appearance at Ardent Outdoors Manufacturing Plant in Macon. The plant produces fishing reels and accessories.
The next stop came in Memphis, Mo., where Dr. Harlo Donelson hosted a luncheon at Keith's Café. Nearly 25 Tiger fans received an update on Mizzou Athletics from Alden, Ekwerekwu and Hunter. Following lunch, the staffers visited the Scotland County Extension Office in downtown Memphis.
Alden, Ekwerekwu, Hunter and Murray concluded their journey with visits to the extension offices in Knox County (Edina), Shelby County (Shelbyville) and Monroe County (Paris) before returning to Columbia.
Ekwerekwu and Hunter are both currently members of the Mizzou Athletics Staff, assisting in the Student Services area of the Athletic Department.
The Statewide Outreach program, which has visited all 114 counties in Missouri, will continue with trips planned in the coming months.
