COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Missouri Wrestling Team, in conjunction with a local company, will adopt the 1st Marine Division (Forward), this holiday season. Platoon G6 is currently deployed in Afghanistan. The Tigers will collect items to be used in care packages that will be sent to this unit in the effort to let our troops know much we appreciate and support them.
The idea came from a recent conversation with one of our current wrestlers, Kyle Bradley, had with his family after one of his former high school classmates and teammates, Phillip Vinnedge, was killed on October 13. Phillip was serving in the Marine Corp in Afghanistan when he was killed. Kyle's uncle, Master Gunnery Sergeant Ken Etherton, is currently the communications chief for this unit stationed in Afghanistan.
If you would like to contribute, you can drop off items in the wrestling office until December 1, 2010. Any cash donations will be used to buy items to ship to this unit. All items will then be packaged and shipped by HD Supply Waterworks here in Columbia.
