A Minute with Mackenzie McGill

Nov. 10, 2010

Hey Tiger Fans!

This past week we had medium conditioning in the gym, high gymnastics, and high conditioning in the weight room. We also added the hard mat for floor landings and more people are starting to do full routines.

We started the week out with a circuit on Monday, Insanity on Tuesday and Thursday, and then intervals on Friday. On Friday, we also had some of our alumni, friends, boosters, and recruits in the gym during our second intersquad on beam and first on bars. The beam intersquad consisted of Alex Gold (senior), Mary Burke (junior), Allie Heizelman (junior), Tori Howard (sophomore), Brittany Bendoff (sophomore), Sandra Ostad (sophomore), Lauren Swankoski (sophomore), Alex Skinner (freshman), and Cathryn Aliceaacosta (freshman). Everyone did a great job focusing on their beam routines and tried to make adjustments to improve from the last beam intersquad, which was a great success.

The bar intersquad consisted of Alex Gold (senior), Mary Burke (junior), Allie Heizelman (junior), Tori Howard (sophomore), Brittany Bendoff (sophomore), Sandra Ostad (sophomore), Lauren Swankoski (sophomore), Alex Skinner (freshman), Cathryn Aliceaacosta (freshman), Taylor Medrea (freshman), Brittani Price (freshman), and myself, Mackenzie McGill (freshman). Everyone did a great job "dialing in" to Dr. McGuire's skill of the week for the team: Confidence.

Through the intersquad we not only showed the confidence we have in our own gymnastics, but our confidence in our teammates as well.

We are very excited for the season and are continuing to push ourselves every day at practice mentally with Dr. McGuire's lessons and physically with the conditioning and routines.

We hope to see all of you tiger fans at our competitions! GO TIGERS!
