Mizzou junior Blaine Gabbert and sophomore Gahn McGaffie have earned Big 12 Conference Player of the Week awards after their performances last Saturday in Mizzou's 36-27 win over Oklahoma.
Gabbert was named the Big 12 Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week after he led Missouri to its first-ever win over a No. 1-ranked team. The junior finished 30-of-42 for 308 yards and a score. Gabbert completed 8-of-9 passes for 95 yards and one TD in the fourth quarter.
Despite OU's 21-20 lead heading into the fourth quarter, Gabbert led a crucial five-play, 72-yard drive to begin the quarter. That drive ended in a 38-yard touchdown pass from Gabbert to Jerrell Jackson, giving the Tigers a 26-20 lead.
Gabbert shared Offensive Player of the Week honors with Nebraska's Taylor Martinez.
McGaffie set the tone for Missouri's win over Oklahoma, as he returned the opening kickoff 86-yards for a touchdown and a 7-0 Tiger lead just 14 seconds into the game.
His kickoff return for touchdown was the first of his career and the first for Missouri since 2008, when Jeremy Maclin took a kickoff 99 yards for score against Illinois. McGaffie's kick return is the longest return by the Tigers in 2010.
Mizzou will travel to Lincoln, Neb. this weekend to take on Nebraska. The game will kickoff at 2:30 p.m and can be seen on ABC.
