Tigers Continue Play At ITA Central Regional

Fayetteville, Ark. - Mizzou Tennis continued play at the 2010 USTA/ITA Central Region Championships this weekend in Fayetteville, Ark., although weather pushed several matches to Sunday.
Kaitlyn Ritchie was solid for the Tigers in the main singles draw earning a win over Iowa's #2 performer, Lynn Poggensei-Wei 6-0, 6-7 (4), 6-3. The senior continued her strong play vs. Arkansas' Kelsey Sundaram, but fell in three sets 6-1, 3-6, 6-0.
Jamie Mera and Mallory Weber also played in the main singles draw, but fell in their opening matches. Weber lost in three sets to Arkansas' Claudine Paulson 6-3, 6-7 (4), 7-6 (4), while Mera dropped her contest to Minnesota's Alexa Palen 6-2, 7-5. Both Weber and Mera will compete in the consolation bracket on Sunday.
Missouri also enjoyed success in the main doubles draw as Maria Christensen and Mera upended Caroline Bealieu and Meredith Burns of Tulsa 8-5, before falling to the pairing of Ana-Maria Constantinescu / Alice Radu of Oklahoma, 8-4.
Action at the 2010 USTA/ITA Central Region Championships continues on Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m.
