Columbia, Mo. -
Missouri Basketball opened its 2010-11 season on Friday afternoon with a spirited two hour and 45-minute practice inside Mizzou Arena. In traditional Coach Anderson fashion the Tigers didn't even shoot the basketball for the first part of practice. Defensive slides, three-man weaves and conditioning welcomed his fifth club at Mizzou back to the practice court.
However the team did finish practice with some scrimmaging segments and it allowed the club to display some impressive athleticism.
“It was a good first workout,” junior guard Kim English said. “It was a hard workout and we'll be back at it twice again tomorrow, but Marcus looked great out there. He has his explosion back. It was great to see.”
English was alluding to a pair of thunderous dunks in transition by the Kansas City native, including a tomahawk dunk while being fouled to close out the scrimmage.
Missouri will workout twice on Saturday and twice more again on Sunday. The first practice is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. and the second will come at 3 p.m.
