COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Mizzou cross country team is set for a busy weekend as it will compete at a pair of meets on Friday and Saturday. Most notably, the women's "A" team will head to Terre Haute, Ind., for the running of the annual Pre-Nationals meet. The Tiger men's team along with a women's "B" team will run at the Bradley Classic in Peoria, Ill., as well. The Bradley Classic will be held on Friday at 4 p.m. at Newman Golf Course while Pre-Nationals will be held at 11 a.m. at Wabash Valley Family Sports Complex.
"With 39 teams in our section alone at the Pre-Nationals meet, it gives us an opportunity to gain a lot of great experience heading into the championships portion of our schedule," head coach Rebecca Wilmes said. "It is going to be a very competitive setting and it will be a new experience for some of our runners, but it is something that they are all very excited about. I think they are just ready to get out there and lace up and compete with some of the best competition in the country."
Running for the Tiger women at the Pre-National meet will be Kinsey Farren, Bailey Belvis, Laura Roxberg, Aimee Bonte, Maggie Priebe and Marie O'Leary. The Tigers will run in the women's 6K blue race, which is slated for an 11 a.m. start. Mizzou is one of 39 teams in that section while an additional 40 teams will run in the 6K white race, which is scheduled right after the blue race.
The men's team, along with five members of the women's team will head to Peoria, Ill., to run at the seventh annual Bradley Classic. 22 men's teams are scheduled to run while 21 women's teams will appear at the meet. The Tiger men's "A" team will run at the meet, highlighted by Max Storms, Kevin McKee and Aaron Dixon.
"Historically, this has been a great meet for us," Wilmes said. "It is a very good course for us and we have done some pretty special things here in the past. It should be a great chance for a lot of our runners to grow and step forward in their progression as runners. I am really looking forward to see who can come out and run really well for us."
