COLUMBIA, Mo. - Former University of Missouri women's basketball players and 2010 University of Missouri Intercollegiate Athletics Hall of Fame inductees Amanda Lassiter and Sandi Prophete ("Lade Majic") will be honored at halftime of the Tigers' game against Baylor on Saturday, Jan. 23 at 1 p.m. The two and the rest of the 2010 class will be inducted on Friday, Jan. 22.
Lassiter, who is currently playing professionally in Spain and will be represented by her mother and sister on Saturday, led the Tigers to a 40-22 record and the 2001 Sweet Sixteen during her career. A 2001 All-Big 12 first team honoree and the 2000 Big 12 Newcomer of the Year, Lassiter was a first round pick in the 2001 WNBA Draft.
At the conclusion of her two seasons at Missouri, Lassiter was in the MU career top-10 in 3-pointers attempted (second), blocked shots (third), 3-pointers made (third), points per game (fourth), steals (seventh), 3-point FG pct. (seventh) and scoring (21st). Nine seasons later, Lassiter still ranks in the MU career top-10 in blocked shots (third), points per game (fourth), 3-pointers attempted (fifth), 3-pointers made (seventh), steals (eighth) and scoring (21st). She also ranks in the MU single-season top-10 in steals (first and third), 3-point field goals (second), blocked shots (second and third), field goals attempted (second), field goals (fifth), scoring (sixth), and points per game (sixth). Additionally, Lassiter currently holds the single-game school records for steals (11) and blocked shots (seven).
One of the all-time greats in Tiger women's basketball, Sandi Prophete is now an accomplished member of the Harlem Ambassadors as Lade Majic. Over 20 years after her playing days at Mizzou, her name is still littered all over the MU career record book. She ranks ninth in scoring (1,480 points), ninth in field goals made, eighth in free throws made, 10th in free throw percentage, ninth in assists and sixth in steals. Prophete's 579-point senior season of 1989 still stands as the eighth-best scoring season in Mizzou women's basketball history, while her 3-point shooting percentage of 41.9 percent in 1987-88 is fourth-best in MU single-season history. A Kodak All-America honorable-mention as a senior, and a two-time All-Big Eight second team selection, Prophete helped the Tigers to the 1986 Big Eight Tournament Title and a co-Big Eight Regular Title in 1987.
Since graduating from Mizzou, Prophete has been with the Harlem Ambassadors since 1998. With the Ambassadors, she has helped the program promote greater understanding between different races of people, while encouraging young people to make the positive life choice of staying in school and staying off of drugs.
