Mizzou Gymnastics Gets Back on the Grind

Alex's Video Diary

Sept. 15, 2010

Hey Tiger Fans!

So today started the first official day of practice! It's so hard to believe this is my senior year, I don't know where all the time has gone. We've all been working so hard already, and I'm really excited about this year and this team. We have six new freshmen coming in this year and they all have a lot of talent! I am really excited to see where this year takes us.

To start of the first practice, we conditioned to the `Insanity' workout. `Insanity' is a video workout that we all do together at the start of every practice, and it can get pretty intense. It's a hard workout, but we all know it will help us all get into great shape for the upcoming year. We've been doing the `Insanity' workouts for about three weeks now, and we can already tell we are getting stronger. At practice, we did vault, bars, and beam. On bars, several freshmen are standout bar performers. Taylor Medrea has a huge blind full tchatchev, Alex Skinner has a huge jaegar, and Brittani Price has a huge gienger-overshoot connection. Allie is working on her double layout full off bars and it looks even better than last year. On beam, Brittany Bendoff and Catherine Aliceaacosta have been working hard on their triple flight series, and it shows. They look awesome! Finally, on vault, some people started to flip their vaults into the pit. Overall, it was a great first day of official practice, and we are only going to get better from here! I am so eager for this season to start :]

Go Tigers!
