2011 Softball Schedule

COLUMBIA, Mo. –
The Missouri Tiger softball team, coming off their second straight Women's College World Series appearance, has announced the tentative 2011 schedule.  The Tigers will compete in five tournaments during the season, including the two they will host.  A total of 25 games will be played at University Field next season.

The Tigers open the 2011 campaign with back-to-back tournaments.  From Feb. 17-20, Missouri will compete in the San Diego State University/University of San Diego Tournament in San Diego, Calif.  The following week, the Tigers will head to the other side of the country and compete in the ESPN Rise Tournament in Orlando, Fla.  Opponents for these two tournaments have not yet been determined.

Missouri will play at home for the first time on March 2, when they welcome Drake to University Field for a mid-week doubleheader.  The annual Missouri Breast Cancer Awareness Tournament, held this year in St. Louis, Mo., will take place from March 4-6 and will bring together Mizzou, SLU, Missouri State, UMKC and SEMO.  After a home game with Arkansas, the Tigers will then host the first of two tournaments.  The first, the Tiger Invitational, currently has Illinois and Illinois State scheduled, with more teams to be added at a later date.  The second tournament, the Mizzou Classic, will bring in North Dakota State and Minnesota, along with other to be announced teams.

From there, the Tigers open Big 12 play.  Mizzou will play home conference games against Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Texas and Iowa State, while they'll hit the road to play Kansas, Texas Tech, Baylor and Oklahoma State.  In the midst of league play, Missouri will also face off against several non-conference opponents, including a doubleheader with North Texas in Fort Worth, Texas, a doubleheader at Evansville, a road game with Northern Iowa, a doubleheader at Saint Louis, a mid-week home game with SIU-Edwardsville and doubleheader against Western Illinois.

The 2011 NCAA Regionals will take place from May 19-22, with the Super Regionals being held from May 27-29.  The Women's College World Series, once again taking place in Oklahoma City, Okla., set to run from June 1-8.
