COLUMBIA, Mo. - Coming off of one of the best senior campaigns in recent memory, Colleen Gordon can add another award to her trophy case in the form of a College Sports Information Directors of America/ESPN Academic First Team All-District nomination.
Gordon, who majored in Nursing at Mizzou, was nominated in the at-large category and was placed against hundreds of other athletes in 13 other sports. As one of the 11 first team winners in her district, Gordon will now be in the running to earn the distinction of being a CoSIDA Academic All-American.
The award, which is voted on by members of CoSIDA, recognizes student-athletes that have 3.3 grade point average or above, and play a significant role in their team's athletic contests. This is the second first team academic honor Gordon has won this year, as she was also named to the Academic All-Big 12 Swimming and Diving team.
