COLUMBIA, Mo. - Future University of Missouri women's soccer player Dominique Richardson, a 2010 signee, was selected to the United States Under-18 Women's National Team for the second time this spring, one of 22 players on the training camp roster released by the US Soccer Federation last week.
The weeklong camp, underway until Sunday, May 16, is being held at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., and kicked off with a match against the United States Under-20 Women's National Team on Sunday, May 9. Richardson started at centerback for head coach Dave Chesler's squad and played the full 90 minutes in a 4-2 loss to the U-20's.
Two other matches are scheduled against local club teams Ajax of Los Angeles on Wednesday, May 12 and Los Angeles Futbol Club (LAFC) on Saturday, May 15.
Richardson committed to playing at Missouri on signing day in February, and is one of seven incoming players with the addition of senior transfer Paula Pritzen last week.
The versatile defender and midfielder will again be among the best players in her age group, and is one of only eight players to be asked back from the U-18's last camp held in April.
Richardson is currently a senior at Fullerton Union High School in Fullerton, Calif., and plays on the Legends FC soccer club, coached by Josh Hodges. As a junior, she was an All-Freeway League first team selection and named to the All-CIF Division III second team. This year, Richardson earned OCvarsity.com senior player to watch recognition, and was chosen to the Southern California Coaches Association girls Division III All-Star squad.
A dual-sport athlete, Richardson also received All-Freeway League first team honors in basketball in 2008-09 and was recently named to the OCO/Efusjon All-Star Basketball game for the senior girls north squad.
