DeStephen, Bonuchi Finish Eighth At Canada Cup

MONTREAL, Quebec, Canada - Representing the United States at the Fina Diving Grand Prix stop in Montreal, the Missouri tandem of Greg DeStephen and incoming freshman David Bonuchi finished eighth overall against some of the best divers in the world at the 2010 Canada Cup.

The duo competed in the 3M synchro event on Friday, earning 346.59 points after their six dives.

Considered one of the top young divers in the country entering college next year, Bonuchi also competed in the 3M individual diving event. Facing 26 other divers from around the world, Bonuchi finished eighth in the prelims with 408.05 points to make the cut for the semifinals.

Making the cut for the "A" group, Bonuchi then finished sixth in the first round of the open semi's with 365.25 points to finish 12th overall.

DeStephen will now continue to train in the hopes of making the 2012 Olympic squad, while Bonuchi will begin his career as a Tiger in the fall.
