Tigers Honored at Missouri State Capitol

April 28, 2010

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The 2010 Missouri gymnastics team was honored for their season accomplishments this morning at the Missouri state Capitol in Jefferson City on both the House and Senate floors.

The team was first introduced by Boone County Representative Mary Still and recognized on the House floor with the presentation of a proclamation by Rep. Still on behalf of the Boone Country delegation. The Tigers then moved across the capitol to the Senate floor where Senator Kurt Schafer presented the team with a resolution as part of his introduction to the Senate.

After the recognition by Sen. Schafer and the rest of the Missouri Senate, the team took a look around the capitol and climbed the 300 steps to the top of the dome to overlook the city.

The Tigers finished the 2010 season as the most successful team in the program's 31-year history. The first Mizzou gymnastics team to win a NCAA Regional Championship and advance to the NCAA National Championships, the Tigers ended with No. 12 final team ranking - the highest end-of-season ranking for the program.
