Potter Selected for Another NCAA Regional

Missouri senior Julia Potter has earned a bid to the NCAA Central Regional, as announced by the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Committee on Monday. Potter will have played in an NCAA Regional is each of her four years at Mizzou. The Central Regional will be played May 6-8 at Otter Creek Golf Club in Columbia, Ind.

Potter, a native of Granger, Ind., was one of three individuals selected to the Central Regional, which will take place in her home state. Last summer, Potter took second place at the Indiana State Women's Amateur Championship played at Otter Creek Golf Club.

In the 2009-10 season, Potter had six top-10 finishes and five top-five. She claimed medalist honors in back-to-back tournaments at the Mountain View Classic (March 26-27) and the Lady Rebel Intercollegiate (April 2-4). Potter has placed in the top 10 in each of her last four events, including a fourth-place showing at last weekend's Big 12 Championships. She currently has a stroke average of 73.58, which would set a new school record.

Potter best career finish at Regionals is a 10th place showing at the 2008 East Regional. Last year, she placed 23rd and in her freshman season of 2007, she finished 56th.

Three regional tournaments will be conducted May 6-8 to determine the championships field. Regional tournaments are considered preliminary rounds of NCAA championships competition, and all national championships policies will apply.

A total of 369 participants have been selected for regional competition. Of these players, 126 will advance to the championships finals. Eight teams and two individuals will advance from each regional.

The NCAA Championships will be held May 18-21 at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C.
