(Columbia, Mo) - University of Missouri women's soccer player Kari Adam was honored at the 83rd Annual Tap Day held on the Mizzou campus Friday. The event recognizes student leaders who have performed notably in academics and extracurricular activities based on their scholarship, leadership, and service achievements.
Adam was inducted into the Mystical Seven secret society, which selects seven outstanding members each year and is the second oldest secret honor society on campus with origins in 1907.
The Tap Day tradition has a long history at Missouri to recognize members of the student body who are deserving of distinguishing. Six honorary organizations reveal their newest members for the first time at the public ceremony and "tap" the new inductees into the societies.
Friday's festivities were held indoors at Jessie Auditorium and featured MU Chancellor Brady Deaton.
Adam, a junior forward from Overland Park, Kansas, has been a consistent contributor on the soccer field for the Tigers. Having played in every game of her college career, Adam has recorded eight goals and five assists in 67 matches played.
Fellow Tiger student-athlete Jarret Sutton was also recognized at the ceremony, earning induction into QEBH. Prior to Friday, Missouri soccer alumni Erica Pusch (2002-05) and Kira Reyes (2003-05) received Tap Day recognitions, chosen to the Mystical Seven and Mortar Board organizations, respectively, in 2005.
