Tigers Host Indiana in Spring Finale

April 16, 2010

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The University of Missouri women's soccer team completes its spring schedule on Saturday, April 17, with a match against Indiana at 10 a.m. at Walton Stadium. The Hoosiers represent the third Big Ten Conference opponent of the spring for Missouri, after the Tigers played Minnesota to a scoreless draw in March and tied Illinois last weekend.

The Tigers are unbeaten against college competition this spring, earning a 4-1 victory over Missouri State to open the season in February. In fact, a college team has not defeated Missouri in a spring game since April 2008, giving the Tigers a 7-0-2 record in their last nine such games over a span of three years.

Indiana, alma mater of Missouri assistant coach Shaunna Daugherty, is 0-2-1 so far in outdoor competition this spring, with losses to Cincinnati and Louisville after opening with a 2-2 tie against Vanderbilt.

Indiana and Missouri have met in exhibitions on three occasions since 2007, most recently resulting in a 4-1 Tigers victory at the Parkway College Showcase in St. Louis last spring.

The match, open to the public with no charge for admission, is part of Missouri's alumni weekend that will also feature a 5k Run/Walk on Sunday, April 18 at 9 a.m. with proceeds benefiting The Shelter.
