Columbia, MO - The University of Missouri tennis team (3-5) will travel to Iowa City, Iowa on Saturday for a match against the University of Iowa (6-2) scheduled for 11 a.m. at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex.
Missouri saw two losses last weekend, 4-3 to Louisville, and 4-1 to then No. 21 SMU. Senior Sofia Ayala earned two wins on the weekend, improving her season record to 3-1, and 2-0 at No. 6 singles.
Iowa comes off a 4-3 win over No. 44 Princeton that sent the unranked Hawkeyes soaring to a No. 54 spot this week. The Hawkeyes also boast the 77th ranked singles player in sophomore Sonja Molnar, who improved to 7-1 in spring duals, and 16-6 overall.
The match marks Missouri's fourth against a Big Ten opponent this season, being defeated by previous opponents Ohio State, Purdue, and Minnesota. The Hawkeyes and Tigers last met in 2008, with the Hawkeyes winning all of the doubles matches and taking a 6-1 win.
This weekend will also be the last outing for the Tigers before they open conference play next weekend on the road against Iowa State and Nebraska.
