Tigers Host St. Louis Athletica Wednesday

COLUMBIA, Mo - The University of Missouri women's soccer team will continue its spring season on Wednesday, March 24 at 4 p.m. against St. Louis Athletica. The scrimmage will be held at Faurot Field and is open to the public.

Coached by Brazilian national team manager Jorge Barcellos, Athletica finished second in the inaugural Women's Professional Soccer season in 2009. St. Louis' roster includes World Cup veterans Lindsay Tarpley (USA), Aya Miyama (Japan), Tina Ellertson (USA), Eniola Aluko (England), Daniela (Brazil) and Madelaine Edlund (Sweden). Hope Solo and Shannon Boxx will both miss the exhibition while attending U.S. Women's National Team camp for two friendlies against Mexico later this month.

The Tigers faced Athletica on two occasions last spring, playing in St. Louis on March 16 at the Scott Gallagher soccer fields and again on April 17 at the campus of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. issouri is 1-0-1 this spring with a 4-1 home victory over Missouri State in February and a scoreless draw against Minnesota in Kansas City earlier this month.

There will be no admission for Wednesday's match and fans are encouraged to enter through the stadium's west entrance.
