Tigers Open Big 12 Play

Columbia, MO - The University of Missouri women's tennis (3-6, 0-0 Big 12) team will face a pair of Big 12 opponents this weekend, as they travel to face Iowa State University and Nebraska. The Tigers are scheduled to face the Cyclones in Ames, Iowa at 3 p.m. on Friday, before traveling to Lincoln, Neb. for a match at 12 p.m. on Sunday. In the Tigers last outing, they were defeated by No. 54 Iowa, 5-2.

Scouting Iowa State (5-6, 0-1 Big 12) Iowa State most recently dropped their Big 12 opener at Baylor, 0-7. The Cyclones saw a four-match win streak from Feb. 5 until Feb. 20, seeing victories over Drake, Illinois-Chicago, Northern Iowa, and Marquette. The Cyclones tied with Kansas State for a ninth-place finish in the Big 12 last year, seeing a 1-10 conference record. In their last meeting with the Tigers, Missouri earned a 4-3 win, taking all three doubles matches and wins at No. 2, 5, and 6 singles.

Scouting No. 54 Nebraska (10-1, 0-0 Big 12) The Huskers opened the spring season ranked No. 55, climbing as high as No. 48, before dropping a match 5-2, to No. 42 Tulsa. The Huskers finished fourth in the Big 12 in 2009, with a 7-4 record in conference play. In the last meeting between Missouri and Nebraska, the Huskers edged their way to a 4-3 win, taking win at No. 1, 2, 4, and 6 singles. Then sophomores, Mallory Weber and Kaitlyn Ritchie defeated their singles opponents at No. 3 and No. 5 doubles, respectively. NU will open their conference schedule against Colorado on Friday afternoon, before their meeting with the Tigers on Sunday.
