Jasmer Earns Big 12 Award

Feb. 17, 2010

COLUMBIA, Mo. - After her stellar performances the last few weeks, senior Kim Jasmer was honored today with the last Big 12 Women's Swimmer of the Week award for the 2009-10 season. Jasmer is the fourth Tiger to earn the conference award this year, and is following fellow senior Colleen Gordon, who won the same award two weeks ago.

In the past three weeks, Jasmer has aided in the Tigers' sweep of Notre Dame, Iowa and Denver in the Shamrock Invitational, Mizzou's domination of Nebraska and claimed two top five finishes against Olympians at the Missouri Grand Prix, earning a silver medal in the women's 100 free on Sunday.

In all, Jasmer has won seven races over the last three weeks, with the most notable coming in the 200 IM against Nebraska on Senior Day. Swimming the individual medley for the first time this year, Jasmer finished the race in 2 minutes, 3.76 seconds, setting a new season best mark, and sixth fastest time in school history.

Missouri swimming and diving will return to the pool next week in College Station, Texas, for the Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championships.
