Columbia, MO - The University of Missouri wrestling team will travel to Ames, Iowa to wrestle against the second-ranked Cyclones of Iowa State in the last dual of the season on Sunday, Feb. 14, at 2 p.m.
The Tigers are coming off a tough weekend, where they dropped back-to-back duals to league foes. Oklahoma took a 25-10 win over Mizzou On Saturday, before Oklahoma State claimed a 24-9 victory on Sunday. The Tigers sit 1-2 in Big 12 Conference action heading into this weekend's clash with ISU.
Seniors Nicholas Marable, Maxwell Askren, and Mark Ellis wrestled for the final time in the Hearnes Center last weekend. Marable and Askren each won both of their matches last week, while Ellis was 1-1, defeating Oklahoma's Nathan Fernandez before falling to No.1-ranked Jared Rosholt of OSU.
Last season, the then No. 5 Missouri wrestling team won a hard fought home dual against then No. 2 Iowa State on Senior Day at Hearnes, improving Missouri's Big 12 record to 3-1 on the season. The Tigers built an 18-6 lead by winning five of the first seven matches, and held on to edge ISU, 18-5, for only the fourth win over Iowa State in program history.
This year, the second-ranked Cyclones are 11-2 overall and 2-0 in the Big 12, defeating Oklahoma (21-12) on Jan. 22 and Oklahoma State (20-18) on Jan. 24. Iowa State will close out its regular season at home on Sunday, Feb. 21 against Nebraska.
