SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Missouri women's swimming and diving team completed day one of the Shamrock Invitational led by a dominating performance in the 500 fly and many solid performances scattered across the first session.
In this championship style format, the points earned during a race will go towards a team's final score against the other schools in the meet, with the Tigers leading Denver and Iowa with 80 and 63 points, trailing host Notre Dame by 30 total points.
Colleen Gordon has been on a tear the last few weeks, winning five events over the course of two weeks, and continued her dominance in the 500 free, leading a host of Tigers in the event, finishing first in 4:51.42. The time is her best in the event this year and is also an NCAA "B" cut time.
Francie Szostak finished second in the event in 4:53.57, Kim Jasmer took third in 4:56.26, Lauren Lavigna came in fourth in 4:56.79 and Stephanie Rovig rounded out the Mizzou onslaught in fifth touching the pad in 4:57.34.
Lisa Nathanson finished second in the 50 free, touching the pad in 23.34 seconds, while Dominique Bouchard took third in the 200 IM in 2:05.39.
The "A" relay group of Bouchard, Rachel Ripley, Gordon and Nathanson finished second in the 400 medley relay in 3:45.32, with the team of Lavigna, Morgan McCleery, Molly Bollen and Szostak came in third in 3:47.38.
