Tiger Wrestlers Take on Mocs Saturday

Jan. 15, 2010

Columbia, Mo. – Missouri's 16th ranked wrestling team will compete in its fourth road dual of the month as they battle with Chattanooga, Saturday, Jan. 16, at 6 p.m. (CT) in Maclellan Gym.  The evening dual marks the ninth time the two programs have met and Missouri owns the 7-1 advantage in the all-time series.

Fans unable to attend the dual can view live video and stats through Missouri's website, www.mutigers.com.

The 2-4 Tigers will showcase a different lineup at Chattanooga, starting true freshman Eric Wilson (Centennial, Colo.) at 125 pounds.  Wilson is 9-5 on the year and opened the season with a second place showing at the Lindenwood Open.  Competing at the Missouri Open, the Tiger grappler took fifth place.  Wilson has managed three falls on the year.

Redshirt freshman Nathan McCormick (Leawood, Kan.) looks to snap a four-match losing streak when he meets at center circle with UTC junior Josh Statum.

Nick Hucke (Pewaukee, Wis.) returns to the lineup at 141 pounds, while Brandon Wiest (O'Fallon, Mo.) is set to take his place at 149 pounds.

One of five Missouri wrestlers entering the meet ranked among the top-20 of their respective weight class, sophomore Patrick Wright (Grand Ledge, Mich.), 16th in the nation, will take on Josh Condon, Kelly Felix or Bond Davis at 157 pounds.  Wright was a perfect 3-0 at the National Duals and is 17-6 on the year.

Senior Nicholas Marable (Collierville, Tenn.) owns the highest ranking of the 10 Tigers competing against Chattanooga.  Ranked sixth at 165 pounds, Marable owns a 92 percent winning percentage and now stands 12th on the Missouri wins list with 105 career victories.

The only match of the evening to feature two ranked grapplers, Missouri's No. 10 Dorian Henderson will take on UTC's No. 20 Jake Young at 174 pounds.  Henderson, a sophomore, is 17-8 on the year, while Young, a freshman, is 16-4.

Redshirt freshman Todd Porter (House Springs, Mo.), No. 18 Brent Haynes (Kansas City, Mo.) and senior heavyweight Mark Ellis (Peculiar, Mo.), ranked seventh in the country, round out Missouri's 10-man lineup.
