Hey Tiger Fans!

I can't believe our first meet of the season is already over! We are all so excited for meet season to be here because we finally get to show off all of our hard work to our fans. Overall, the meet went really well. I thought we did an awesome job of competing like we practice. Of course, there were a few uncharacteristic, first meets jitters, but everyone stayed with their routines even if there was a small mistake.

We started the night on vault, and hit six huge vaults. We still need to work on sticking our landings so that we can add an extra few tenths to our score, but our vaults have so much height and distance this year. Also, Tori and Brittany did a great job with their exhibition vaults, and they proved how much depth we have on vault this season.

Our second event of the night was bars. Everyone was so aggressive throughout their whole routines, and our routines have improved so much since last year. Lauren did a great job leading off with a strong routine, and D's routine showed how hard she has worked on bars this year. Allie and I both hit our routines just like we did all last season. Mary and Shi both added new releases to their routines. I think this year's bar lineup is the strongest we have had since I've been on the team.

Next, we moved to beam. I think we have the most depth on beam this year out of any other event. Mary led us off with a beautiful routine, and Lauren proved what a strong competitor she is by hitting her routine as well. D, Brooke, and Shi also had awesome routines. Tori exhibitioned on beam and hit her routine, showing how deep we are on the event this year. Also, I exhibitioned beam for the first time in my career, and I was proud to show off my improvements on beam this year!

The final event of the night was floor. Our floor routines were entertaining and I could tell the crowd was enjoying our performances. Amy did a great job on the choreography this year, as usual! Our tumbling is bigger and more difficult than last year. Mary added an Arabian double front as her first pass and nailed it! Even though we had a few small mistakes, our floor routines showed how hard we have been working on our conditioning and fitness level this year.

I hope all of our fans enjoyed watching us at our first home meet of the year! This weekend we travel to Las Vegas to compete in the Lady Luck Invitational. Our next home meet is Pink Out on Friday, Jan. 22, against Big 12 rival Iowa State. Hope to see you on Jan. 22...and don't forget to wear Pink!!

Go Tigers! Becky
