COLUMBIA, Mo. - The University of Missouri women's soccer team (5-4-1) simply could not stop scoring in tonight's 8-0 victory over the Northern Iowa Panthers (2-5-2) at Walton Stadium. Seven different Tigers found the net, with freshman Jessica Greer tallying twice and Alysha Bonnick finishing the would-be game winner in the eighth minute.

The Tigers put forth one of their most balanced performances of 2009, keeping possession in the UNI half for the majority of the game and not allowing the Panthers to record the first of their two total shots until the 81st minute. After Bonnick opened scoring with her third goal of the season in the eighth minute, a header off of a Bree Thornton cross, the Tigers wasted no time in piling on the goals. Senior Meghan Pfeiffer headed in her second goal of the season off a Kristin Andrighetto corner kick to make the score 2-0.

Alysha Bonnick nearly scored her second of the night in the 17th minute. The junior forward collected the ball near midfield and found herself on a break away, only to see her shot deflected by Panther goalkeeper Lauren Potzman. Senior Michelle Makasini would later score her second goal of the season, finishing off a Michelle Collins pass in the 29th minute to send the Tigers to halftime with a 3-0 lead.

The Tigers refused to ease the offensive pressure in the second half, as they would have a handful of shots saved before Thornton got her head on a cross from Greer to score her second of the season in the 57th minute. The Tiger offense was relentless, firing 22 of their 38 total shots in the second half alone. Greer would then score back-to-back goals, her second and third in 2009, to increase the Tiger lead to 6-0. Her first came in the 78th minute, as she fired a hard shot that hit the crossbar and deflected into the net. Her second came off a pass from Kendra Collins in the 82nd minute.

The Tigers weren't finished, however, as freshman Haley Krentz netted her first career goal in the 88th and Kendra Collins tapped in a loose ball in the box less than a minute later. The eight-goal margin of victory is the largest in the program's history, as well as the largest since a 7-0 victory over Arkansas State in 2005.

Missouri returns to action on Sunday, opening conference play against Oklahoma State at 1 p.m at Walton Stadium. The Tigers are 8-5-1 all-time against the Cowgirls.
