
Mizzou Routs Minnesota, 20-5

COLUMBIA, Mo. - - Missouri scored a season-high 20 runs on Wednesday afternoon and defeated Minnesota, 20-5, at Taylor Stadium. Mizzou (16-17) scored at least one in all but two innings and put 14 runs across the plate in the first two innings.
The Tigers batted around in the first inning, putting five runs on the board. In the inning, senior Steve Gray had a two-run single and senior Kyle Mach doubled to drive in a pair.
Mizzou then scored nine runs in the second inning, sending 14 batters to the plate. All nine runs were scored on with two outs in the inning. The first run came on a sacrifice fly by junior Greg Folgia. Junior Trevor Coleman then hit a two-run home run. It was Coleman's fourth homer of the season, tying him for the team lead in that category.
Mach drove in his third run of the game on an RBI single in the second and senior Ryan Lollis walked with the bases loaded to pick up an RBI. It was the third-straight at-bat in which Lollis walked. With the bases still loaded, freshman Conner Mach delivered a bases clearing double and scored when Folgia doubled.
Mizzou added a run in the third, then scored three times in the fourth inning, which included an RBI base hit by Coleman and a two-run double by Gray. The Tigers scored one run in both the sixth and seventh innings to reach the 20-run mark.
Coleman, Gray, Kyle Mach and Conner Mach each drove in three runs in the game. Gray was 3-for-6 and scored three times.
The 22 runs are the most scored by MU since it put up 22 against Nebraska on May 17, 2008.
This weekend the Tigers travel to Waco, Texas for a three-game series against Baylor. Game one of the weekend is set for 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
