STILLWATER, Okla. - - Missouri recorded its third shutout of the season, defeating No. 15 Oklahoma State by a score of 1-0 on Monday in the final game of a three-game series in Stillwater, Okla.
For the seventh game this season, the Tigers chose to use the pitcher-by-committee plan. Mizzou improved to 6-1 on the year in those seven games. Nine pitchers stepped to the mound for the Tigers on Monday and freshman Ryan Clubb picked up his first career win after pitching a 1-2-3 fifth inning.
Sophomore Brad Buehler pitched a perfect ninth inning to pick up his second save of the season.
Senior Kyle Mach singled to lead off the sixth inning and advanced to third on a single by senior Ryan Lollis. Mach then scored when junior Trevor Coleman reached on a fielders' choice.
The Cowboys threatened in the bottom of the seventh, as two runners reached with two outs in the inning, but Davis Duren grounded out to shortstop to end the inning.
Five different Tigers accounted for MU's five hits as Mach, Lollis, Coleman, junior Greg Folgia and junior Aaron Senne all had a hit. Senne's hit was a double with two outs in the top of the fifth inning.
Tyler Lyons took the loss for Oklahoma State despite pitching a complete game five hitter.
MU's two previous shutouts were an 8-0 win over Western Illinois on March 4 and a 2-0 victory over Texas on March 14.
Missouri improved to 13-14 on the season and 4-5 in the Big 12 Conference, while OSU fell to 19-8 overall and 3-3 in the Big 12.
On Wednesday, Missouri will face Saint Louis University at Busch Stadium. First pitch is set for 7:15 p.m.
