The Missouri women's basketball team will keep a bi-weekly blog during the season. This week junior Shakara Jones discusses the season opener.
Hello Tiger Fans!
Happy Tuesday! I hope you all have started your week off on the right foot. I know the Tigers have, with our win over Northern Iowa on Sunday night! We are very happy to be 1-0 in OUR HOUSE so far, seeing that winning all of our home games is one of the goals we have set for ourselves as a team.
I loved getting our first official win for the 2009-10 season in our arena! Something about winning your first regular season game in your home gym sets the tone for the rest of the year. I LOVE playing in Mizzou Arena. The gameday set-up of the gym and the atmosphere when I step on the floor just feels right to me. The fans, the band, I love it all. Every time we have a home game I get pumped up and excited because we have one of the most beautiful arenas in the country and I feel honored to play here every season.
I know we are just getting underway, but so far, I am impressed with everyone's focus, heart and desire to win. We have been working hard since the summer and I think all of that time and effort we put into it will pay off.
We are looking forward to our game on Wednesday, against Memphis at 6:30 pm. It will be another battle for us but we are up to the challenge that's ahead. We are ready to be playing games again after a long off-season of hard work! I cannot wait to see all of you fans at the game. I can't explain how much we appreciate having all of your support through our journey. You push us to another level!
Thanks for helping us get off to a great start, and I hope to see you on Wednesday!
