COLUMBIA, Mo. -

After a combined two-and-a-half week break, the Missouri men's and women's swimming and diving teams return to action Saturday, Nov. 14, hosting the Salukis of Southern Illinois-Carbondale at Noon (CT) in the Mizzou Aquatics Center. This marks the first time the men have hit the pool since competing in the Southwest Collegiate Invite in Dallas, while the women are coming off a win against rival Kansas in Lawrence two weeks ago.

Last Time Out

The Tiger men had 12 top-four finishes in a third place showing at the invite hosted by SMU. The team scored 656 points, competing against conference foes Texas, Texas A&M and the host Mustangs. Jan Konarzewski recorded the only first place finish for the Tigers, winning the 200-back in 1:47.77 in the first day of competition, while Jordan Hawley (50-free) and Greg DeStephen (3M dive) managed second place showings.

The Tiger women aided in the schools quest to retain the Border Showdown trophy, bringing Mizzou's lead over the Jayhawks, 4.5-3, after the 176-119 victory in Lawrence. The team won 12 of the 16 events on the day, including 25 top three finishes. The tone was set early by the relay team of Cassie Cunningham, Morgan McCleery, Kim Jasmer and Lisa Nathanson winning the 200-medley in 1:44.16. Throughout the rest of the dual, McCleery, Jasmer and Nathanson went on to win two individual races each among the other Tiger winners. It was the first dual win for the women's team this year.

Scouting Southern Illinois

SIU's men's squad made the leap up from the Sun Belt to the Mid-American Conference in August, while the women continue to compete in the Missouri Valley Conference. The men's team is 3-2 in dual meets this year, defeating Evansville, Miami (OH) and Washington-St. Louis, while falling to Kentucky and Illinois. The Saluki women's team has fared even better, sitting at 3-1 in dual meets, including defeating Vanderbilt in Nashville, 145-114. The women's team is led by Kirsten Groome, who has either the first or second best time in the MVC in five different events. Behind her is Therese Mattsson, who is first in the conference in the 100 and 200-free.

Live stats of the dual will be available through MUTigers.com.
