No. 23 Tigers sink Iowa State 3-1

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The No. 23 University of Missouri women's soccer team improved to 11-4-3 overall and 6-0-2 tonight with their 3-1 victory over the Iowa State Cyclones (7-7-4, 2-6-0) at Walton Stadium. Senior Kristin Andrighetto scored twice in the second half to help extend the Tigers' unbeaten streak to nine, a program record.
A cold, drizzly first half saw both teams exchange possession through the midfield and struggle to create chances. Missouri's best chance to get on the board came in the 26th minute, when sophomore Kendra Collins got behind the defense and ran into the Iowa State box, but pushed her shot just wide of the net. The Tigers had another near miss in the 34th minute when junior Krista Kruse got her head on a Haley Krentz free kick just outside the box, but her shot was saved. The two teams would enter halftime scoreless.
The Tigers wasted little time in the second half, as Andrighetto struck her sixth goal of the season in the 50th minute. Freshman defender Kellie Gavigan played a long ball down the field to the hustling senior forward, who dribbled into the right side of the box and cracked a high shot just inside the right post to put Missouri up 1-0.
Iowa State managed to even the score in the 68th, when Amanda Nimtz got a foot on a loose ball in the box and put a low, hard shot past goalkeeper Tasha Dittamore to make the score 1-1. It didn't take long for Missouri to regain the lead, however, as sophomore Jessie Crabtree got a head on the ball right in front of Cyclone keeper Ann Gleason from a corner kick to make the score 2-1 in the 72nd minute.
The Tigers would seal victory just minutes later. Junior Alysha Bonnick worked her way into the right side of the Cyclone box and found Andrighetto with a low cross that the striker easily finished. Andrighetto now sits alone in second place for all-time career goals at Missouri with 34.
With Texas A&M's 2-0 victory over Colorado earlier this evening, the Tigers can clinch the Big 12 regular season title with a victory over Nebraska on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Walton Stadium.
