Waco, Texas - The University of Missouri women's soccer team (9-4-3, 4-0-2) won for the 150th time in school history on Friday night, besting the Baylor Bears (6-4-4, 2-3-2) 5-0. Sophomore midfielder Jessie Crabtree led the Tigers with the game's first two goals, followed by strikes from junior Kari Adam, sophomore Kelsey Blincow, and senior Kristin Andrighetto.
The Tigers started the scoring early, notching the opening goal 2:38 into the contest. Senior Bree Thornton's cross from the right side was punched by Bears' goalkeeper Gianna Quintana but fell to Crabtree at the backpost where the Marion, Ill.-native made no mistake in finishing the opportunity.
Just over ten minutes later, Crabtree struck again in her third start of the season. Redshirt-sophomore Brittany Hopkins fired a throw-in deep into the Bears' box and an errant header by a Baylor defender put Crabtree in position to head home the loose ball, doubling the Missouri advantage. The two-goal performance gives her three goals in her collegiate career, all scored this season.
The Tigers continued to capitalize on chances in the 23rd minute as junior Alysha Bonnick surged past the Baylor backline. Quintana rushed out of her net and did well to save Bonnick's shot but was helpless to stop the follow-up effort from Adam at the top of the penalty area. It was Adam's second of the season and eighth of her career.
Missouri added their fourth goal of the first half three minutes later off a throw-in by Adam. Sophomore Kendra Collins flicked the near-post service to Blincow and the Lewisville, Texas-native vollied it in for her first of the year and second of her career.
Andrighetto closed out the scoring in the 70th minute with her team-high fifth strike of the season. Freshman Haley Krentz's corner kick was headed out by the Bears but Andrighetto was there and saw her long range shot go off the gloves of Quintana and trickle into the side netting.
Senior goalkeeper Tasha Dittamore was called into action for one save in the win, as Missouri outshot the Bears 23-5. The victory improves the Tigers to 150-123-15 all time, with all 150 wins coming under head coach Bryan Blitz.
Missouri remains in second place in the Big 12 standings, but moved within one point of first place Colorado who is idle for the weekend. The Tigers will look to leap the Buffaloes on Sunday in their match at Oklahoma at 1 p.m.
